Riverside 2019: Thank you

After the strobes have dimmed and the hangovers have been cured. We look back with a smile and with an afterglow of that amazing weekend, we called The Riverside Festival. One of the things that shone through (certainly wasn’t the sun) was the energy, enthusiasm and a willingness to make the best of any situation. As the rain and wind battered down upon the Clydeside, the people danced and partied even harder.

As you may know, we had the pleasure of hosting The Tall Ship VIP and as far as venues go it doesn’t get any better and for being over 120 years old it held its own. We would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone involved with the organisation and running of the whole weekend and for those people who helped us to celebrate this incredible event.

The seventh edition of the Riverside Festival gets even more special with the announcement of an exclusive design collaboration with Forty Clothing.

Scotland’s premiere celebration of electronic music, Riverside Festival and one of the most exciting clothing labels around today Forty Clothing have teamed up on an exciting clothing collection,

Inspired by the connection between music, emotion and frequency – each piece has been named using a frequency number which corresponds directly to human emotion. It draws on a shared passion between clothing and music and takes influences from the Riverside Festival logo which mimics the iconic rooftop of the Zaha Hadid designed Riverside Museum.

Harry Miller, Forty Clothing Director, said: “Having had an admiration over the years for what the Riverside Festival have created and being a clubber and DJ myself it’s been an honour to have an opportunity to work alongside them. We felt that the rooftop and the Riverside logo looked very much like a musical waveform and with music being indelibly linked to how it makes us feel it lends itself naturally to the design idea.”

Mark Mackechnie, Riverside Festival, said: “ We are delighted to be teaming up with Forty Clothing. Forty clothing have produced must have items worn by clubbers for several years now so we are really excited by this collaboration with this dynamic and creative team.” Riverside Festival is Scotland’s largest celebration of electronic music taking place on 25 – 26 May Bank Holiday Weekend, year on year they bring the best artists from the cutting edge to the unique and iconic Clydeside location.

Forty x David Eustace

Forty x David Eustace

We’re really excited to be collaborating with the internationally acclaimed artist, photographer and director David Eustace on a limited run of t-shirts.

Eustace is currently exhibiting a vintage and unique body of work titled ‘New York Polaroids, 2004’ at the Acid Bar, SWG3. The singular work compromises a collection of sixteen SQ70 Polaroids created in Wooster St, New York and which serves as a comment in the transient and everchanging nature of the area and city.

To celebrate the exhibition coming to Glasgow, we have created a small collection of tees which will be available at the exhibition which is running until the 29th of March in the Acid Bar at SWG3.

Harry Miller, Forty Clothing: “We are very honoured to be involved with David Eustace on this project. To be associated with an artist who has worked hard at what they do and are just good people is nothing short of amazing and is at the essence of what we try to do here at Forty.”

Camo, its history & Forty Clothing

Did you know, the very first camouflage was used by hunters to disguise themselves from their prey and could take the form of foliage or mud smeared over their bodies, to hide their scent as well as their appearance? Well, now you know. However, we must admit, that’s not the reason we use camo in our product design here at Forty.

Camo is very much back on-trend this Autumn/Winter season, however Disruptive Pattern Material (DPM) has been an inspiration here at Forty Clothing since the very beginning and for us, and is not just an in-season style. From our monster logo to our newly launched Edmund winter jacket, camo boldly plays its part in the Forty Family.

Forty Clothing, a hip street-style brand, is all the rage these days. It’s also the reason why style stunners are sauntering about Glasgow and Scotland with a loveable monster logo imprinted on their t-shirts! This trendy logo, the reason for the brand, is actually a drawing by the 3-year-old son of company founder and renowned Scottish DJ Harry Miller. Miller collaborated with a graphic design friend and alas, the rest is history. Forty instantly garnered respect and is popular with DJs and notables in the clubbing scene. The flagship concept store is too cool for words.”
